The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) is pleased to announce its quarterly membership magazine, Chronicle of the Dog, has won the category Annual, Special Interest, or Any Other Subject (magazine) through the Dog Writers Association of America annual writing competition. COTD received the Maxwell Medallion for its variety of stories on business, legislative issues, and health and nutrition, as well as many others.
This is the fourth year in a row where Chronicle of the Dog has been recognized as the winner in its nominated class: 2017 COTD won Best Club Publication, and then received the top honor for 2018, 2019, and now 2020 in its current category of Special Interest magazine.
Two other APDT authors were nominated, but did not win, for their submissions in COTD: Rachel Brix for her “A Girl and a Dog” feature in the Rescue category, and Jamie Gregory for her “After the Quarantine: Dogs May Experience Separation Anxiety Once We Go Back to Work,” in the behavior/training category.
The APDT’s Chronicle of the Dog magazine keeps members abreast of contemporary pet dog training techniques and provides a lively forum for discussion of dog training and behavior issue issues. Regular columns address topics such as how to structure behavior modification programs, training and assessing shelter dogs, handling techniques for veterinary technicians and groomers, training tips, case studies, and more. Subscriptions are available to association members via print and digital options. Non-members may subscribe to the magazine for $50/year for a mailed copy and $25/year for digital subscription.
