Training methods and actual treatment of dogs Causes – not symptoms : Considering problematic behavior in animals, the methodology is one of analyzing and setting right the causes. Therefore analyses are the main instruments of work. The analyses mostly work by the way of psychological parameters, for instance special designed questions or questionnaires. These are: ? Stress analysis ? Masculinity analysis (for intact males) ? Thyroid dysfunction analysis ? Pain/Medical dysfunction analysis ? Noradrenalin – serotonin analysis ? Ethological analysis. This is created and held by the Swedish ethologist Kerstin Malm ? Nourishment analysis. This is not completed as yet ? Owner-dog relationship analysis Ethics are important: Both the ethics and the methodology approach to animals and animal behavior are important. Here is the way in which Anders trains: ? Training should be built upon knowledge, soft methods and without force ? Dogs and dog owners shall be met with respect, care and solicitude ? There are never arguments enough to motivate authoritarian training ? Training shall never compel an individual to perform above its ability ANDERS HALLGREN http://www.andershallgren.se/en/ Anders Hallgren was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1940. He was examined 1971 as a psychologist, MSc, at the University of Stockholm, Sweden. He is considered to be the first dog psychologist in the world. This is how he describes his work: He has been practicing as a trainer and psychologist for dogs for more than 40 years. He has conducted a lot of studies about the behavior of dogs and of the human-animal bond. And also, among other things, elaborated a stress analysis and a special pain analysis, which are considered efficient tools in the mapping of causes behind problematic behavior in dogs. All training is within the framework of a non-violent ideology. Anders specialties are aggression – causes and cures, post-traumatic stress disorders in dogs, and problem behavior in general. Anders has written 29 books and booklets about dog behavior (some of which have been published in other countries) and numerous articles for magazines, participated in several radio and TV programs, given many lectures worldwide and trained several thousands of dogs with problematic behavior. Anders was the first in the world to train dogs to detect mould in buildings, which today is somewhat of an industry in Scandinavia. He was also assigned to start a program for educating service dogs for disabled people, which is now effectively developing. In 2000 he introduced smoke alarm training for dogs and the interest continues to grow for this type of training in several countries. Problematic behavior in dogs (2 days: Saturday, March 25th & Sunday, March 26th: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) The seminar will take place at our training facility, 1200A montée Poirier in St-Lazare. The workshop will be from 9am to 5pm with a one hour lunch break on two separate days. Lunch is not included. Restaurants can be found approximately 15 minutes away by car. All people interested in this subject are invited to participate. The cost for this seminar is as follows: 150$ 1 day (of your choice), 250$ for both days. (no dogs allowed on both days).
