Certified Professional Dog Trainer, author and consultant on the subjects of dog daycare, training and off-leash dog play, Robin Bennett, CPDT-KA, will serve as chair of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) throughout 2016.

A retired Colonel of the United States Marine Corps Reserves, Bennett has been involved in the pet care industry for over 20 years as a dog trainer and dog daycare expert. She founded All About Dogs, one of the largest dog training companies in Virginia and grew the business from a sole proprietorship to a corporation that boasts over ten instructors teaching private lessons as well as numerous group classes and behavior modification lessons for shy, fearful and aggressive dogs. Her book, “All About Dog Daycare: A Blueprint for Success” is the number one reference on owning a daycare, and “Off Leash Dog Play,” co-authored with Susan Briggs, is the key reference on supervising dogs in playgroups.

Bennett has a passion for educating pet care facility owners and staff on safe handling techniques and canine body language with a staff training program developed with Susan Briggs called Knowing Dogs. She now owns RB Consulting and provides industry specific dog training and daycare instruction to pet care facilities, speaks at industry trade shows, maintains an active blog and provides online consulting.
Bennett has been an active member of the APDT since 1996 and has a B.A. degree from Roanoke College. She has also earned her professional certification through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT), the first national certification for dog trainers.

Outside of training, she enjoys reading, playing with dogs, and traveling in her class A motorhome.  She also enjoys serving as a member and volunteer at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Bennett and her husband, Greg have two adult children (Leanna and Nathan).  They live in Stafford, Va.

The Association of Professional Dog Trainers, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1993 to be an inclusive forum for trainers to network with each other, provide educational opportunities, and grow the profession. Currently, the APDT reaches more than 5,200 members in 48 countries worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, business management, research, and continuing education in the professional dog training profession and pet industry.
