September 13th, 2016

The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) will present Bill Hatherley with the 2016 Member of the Year Award at the 23d Annual APDT Educational Conference and Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Oct. 12-15, 2016

The Member of the Year Award honors an APDT member who has demonstrated outstanding commitment, passion and professionalism, and dedication for advancing the APDT as it advances the dog training profession and advocates for the pet industry profession.

Mr. Hatherley has attended the APDT conference for the past eight years.  He joined the conference task force as a volunteer and has been leading the Border Collie Brigade for the last six years.  Mr. Hatherley states, “I absolutely love this highly rewarding work! My team and I have the opportunity to help volunteers increase their conference experience by supporting conference attendees, speakers and staff. The Border Collie’s interact with other trainers and network and enjoy a fuller conference experience resulting in an enhanced conference for all attendees.”

Mr. Hatherley will be honored on Oct. 13 during the Opening Keynote Address by Dr. Ian Dunbar, APDT’s founder, at the APDT’s 23rd Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Association of Professional Dog Trainers, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1993 to be an inclusive forum for trainers to network with each other, provide educational opportunities, and grow the profession. Currently, the APDT reaches more than 5,200 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, business management, research, and continuing education in the professional dog training profession and pet industry.
